A mid-May trip to the Cinque Terra region of Italy was the highlight of 2012, and a photographers dream. Or if you start out the trip with a brand new, highly complex DSLR, a nightmare. I still managed to get some credible pictures in spite of myself. The cities are built on steep shears that drop into the ocean. That they practice commerce is amazing, that they grow wine grapes even more amazing. Natives must have thighs like Arnold Schwartzennegar.
One notable thing from the photographer’s eye was the color. Everywhere there was color, from the buildings to the mandatory flower pots and gardens on every balcony. Even the food was colorful! No flat white or grey buildings here. Even the graffiti shows artistic endeavor!
