The Seasons

Mt. St. Helens – Sugar Coated

One thing the Californians miss is the changing of the seasons. “I can run year round in California!” Yeah pal, accelerate that arthritis. And you only have so many heart beats. Is that how you want to spend them?

The Pacific Northwest provides the beauty of the four seasons, but like eating and drinking, the seasons are best in moderation. Unlike the midwest bitter cold, four feet of snow, sleet storms, etc. the Pacific Northwest is a mild version with just enough change to make it interesting, pretty, and enjoyable. Well, most of the time anyway. Shoveling much of anything gets old in the hurry.

Fall, in particular, provides wonderful colors and changes. The challenge in many seasons is catching them with a camera. Timing is everything. Often the leaves are beautiful but there is nothing but grey clouds for lighting. The reflections of the rain can be spectacular, but you have to learn how to keep the the water out of and off of the camera. Don’t you love a challenge?
